An audit of the Australian Immunisation Register https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35824 30 days overdue for immunisation. Survey data were analysed using population weights. Results: Estimated true coverage of fully vaccinated one-year-old children in NSW is 96.2% (CI:95.9-96.4), 2.1% higher than AIR reported coverage of 94.1%. Of the children reported as overdue on AIR, 34.9% (CI:30.9-38.9) were actually fully vaccinated. No significant association was found between under-reporting and socioeconomic status, rurality or reported local coverage level. Data errors in AIR uploading (at provider level) and duplicate records contributed to incorrect AIR coverage recording. Conclusions: Despite incentives to record childhood vaccinations on AIR, under-reporting continues to be an important contributor to underestimation of true coverage in NSW. Implications for public health: More reliable transmission of encounters to AIR at provider level and removal of duplicates would improve accuracy of reported coverage.]]> Wed 17 Nov 2021 16:30:08 AEDT ]]> Interventions for infantile seborrhoeic dermatitis (including cradle cap) https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42046 Wed 17 Aug 2022 13:44:19 AEST ]]> The influence of sensory processing patterns on infant directed speech https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38545 Wed 13 Mar 2024 14:18:39 AEDT ]]> The paediatric clinical experiences of general practice registrars https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:15268 Wed 11 Apr 2018 16:14:08 AEST ]]> Stoic survival: the journey of parenting a premature infant in the bush https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:11019 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:49:03 AEST ]]> Nutritional influences in pregnancy and postpartum for women and their children https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:4249 Wed 11 Apr 2018 13:10:54 AEST ]]> Respiratory viral infections in pregnant women with asthma are associated with wheezing in the first 12 months of life https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:14144 Wed 11 Apr 2018 11:35:52 AEST ]]> Differences in pulmonary group 2 innate lymphoid cells are dependent on mouse age, sex and strain https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:40215 Wed 06 Jul 2022 16:26:34 AEST ]]> The effect of lactoferrin supplementation on death or major morbidity in very low birthweight infants (LIFT): a multicentre, double-blind, randomised controlled trial https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55012 Wed 03 Apr 2024 10:47:37 AEDT ]]> Effects of nutritional interventions during pregnancy on infant and child cognitive outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30955 Wed 02 Oct 2019 10:21:46 AEST ]]> 2019 International consensus on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care science with treatment recommendations https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:44628 Wed 02 Aug 2023 16:24:24 AEST ]]> Maternal nutrition and cognition https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:33632 Tue 27 Nov 2018 16:39:25 AEDT ]]> Breastfeeding and wheeze-related outcomes in high-risk infants: A systematic review and meta-analysis https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47084 Tue 13 Dec 2022 16:35:23 AEDT ]]> Engaging new parents in the development of a peer nutrition education model using participatory action research https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:45357 Thu 27 Oct 2022 14:06:19 AEDT ]]> The influence of early-life microbial exposures on long-term respiratory health https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:53400 Thu 23 Nov 2023 13:43:38 AEDT ]]> Vitamin D status in pregnant women with asthma and its association with adverse respiratory outcomes during infancy https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:48625 p = .04). The number of Total Serum Bilirubin tests (TSBRs) were compared for the 12 months prior (T1) with a 6-month period and 6 months after protocol introduction (T2). Transcutaneous bilirubin (TcBR) results were also collected in T2. Rates of phototherapy and peak TSBRs at commencement were also compared as measures of safety. Results: Four hundred and twenty-six of the 2197 live births in T1 required one or more TSBRs compared with 119 of the 1169 live births in T2. This represents an odds ratio of 0.47 (95% confidence interval 0.38–0.58) for infants in T2 having ≥1 TSBR compared with T1. There was no difference between the groups for rates of phototherapy (3.8% vs. 3.0%; P = 0.2) nor any difference between the groups for peak SBR during phototherapy (301.9 μmol/L (standard deviation, SD 58) for T1 vs. 303.2 μmol/L (SD 54) for T2; P = 0.45). The estimated cost saving per year is $6966.00. Conclusion: TcBR measurement in conjunction with our protocol significantly reduces painful procedures and costs without increasing the risk of delaying treatment with phototherapy.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:10:19 AEDT ]]> The effect of convective heating on evaporative heat loss in anesthetized children https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:21116 core drop was 1.27°C with a contribution from EWL of 0.6°C over ~70 min. This reduction was significant for infants of both gestational age groups. Some indices were age specific: infant (< 24-months; n = 8 indices), child (2–12-years; n = 16), adolescent (13–18 years; n = 8), and child/adolescent (n = 14). Thirty-seven indices evaluated for validity and/or reliability. Eleven of the 15 indices which investigated associations with prospective health outcomes reported significant results, such as improved IQ, quality of life, blood pressure, body composition, and prevalence of metabolic syndrome. Conclusions: Research utilising diet quality indices in paediatric populations is rapidly expanding internationally. However, few indices have been evaluated for validity, reliability, or association with health outcomes. Further research is needed to determine the validity, reliability, and association with health of frequently utilised diet quality indices to ensure data generated by an index is useful, applicable, and relevant.
